Hadestown Teen Edition Auditions

Fall Student Production

Join us this fall for Hadestown: Teen Edition! The Red Phoenix Theatre Company is thrilled to announce registration is now live for our fall productions! This show is part of our educational programming and is intended for ages 13 - 19. Everyone that registers for this production will be cast in the show.

During this production intensive, students will be actively engaged in learning character development, acting techniques, dance techniques, and will receive vocal instruction.

This full-length Teen Edition of Anaïs Mitchell’s haunting, jazz-inflected folk opera follows Orpheus’ mythical quest to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice.

This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and lady Persephone – Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.

General auditions will be completed by video submission. These will be due August 19th by 7pm. We encourage everyone to get their auditions in as quickly as possible, as they will be reviewed as they are submitted. Audition videos should be 60 seconds or less. Your audition should be a verse and a chorus of a song in similar style to this title. Your audition’s accompaniment track should be instrumental only. Please slate with your name, age, and height at the beginning of your video.

Callbacks will be August 23. Details for these will be emailed following general auditions.

Rehearsals Dates: This production will rehearse from August through December. It is important that you review the tentative production calendar prior to signing up. While minor conflicts can be accommodated on a case by case basis, we need these to be as limited as possible for the production.

Performances will take place December 5 - 8 at Red Phoenix Performing Arts Studio.

Tuition: Tuition for this production is $525 plus a $25 registration fee. Tuition is broken into 4 payments. A $131.25 payment is due at the time of registration, and the remaining payments will debit $131.25 automatically the first of each month September - November. Everyone that registers for this production will be cast in the show. Tuition is non-refundable.
